Ukraine: Demand is driving up prices for imported tomatoes, while local ones are running out

As analysts of the EastFruit project report, currently the main share of the market is made up of imported tomatoes from Turkey. According to traders, since the beginning of the week alone, these vegetables have risen in price on the domestic market by an average of 20%. Today, imported tomatoes are sold at 80-100 UAH/kg ($1.91-2.38/kg) depending on the quality, batch size and product variety. According to market participants, this week the supply of tomatoes on the market was insufficient. Sampling at local factories was practically not carried out due to the end of the sales season.
