The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's Community Education team is touring community festivals in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions to educate the public about Western Australia's recreational fishing rules. The team recently engaged with over 300 fishers at the Kununurra Agricultural Show, answering questions about fishing regulations and promoting sustainable fishing. The team's display covers topics such as licences, release weights, possession limits, marine parks, and the specific requirements for fishing for barramundi. They expect to engage with up to 600 people over the two-day Spinifex Spree Carnival in Port Hedland and the FeNaCING festival in Karratha.
