Extreme weather conditions, including heat and drought in North America and unfavorable weather in other durum wheat-growing countries, have led to a poor harvest, causing a shortage in the market. Canada, a major exporter, has seen a significant decrease in durum wheat production. The shortage is expected to affect the fullness of shelves in Europe and Eastern Europe, as both regions need imports for their production. While Central Europe had a good harvest volume, the quality was not good due to rain during harvest time. Germany's harvest does not meet demand, and global inventories are at a 14-year low, leading to a threefold increase in durum wheat prices.
