Despite a 23% reduction in the area under sugar beet, thanks to higher yields, sugar production decreased by only 4%.

On February 1, 2026, the sugar production season in Ukraine concluded. 26 factories, part of the "Ukrtsukor" association, produced 1.64 million tons of sugar, reports Latifundist.com. It is noted that the total production volume in the country amounts to 1.72 million tons. Despite a reduction in sugar beet areas by 50 thousand hectares (–23% compared to the previous year), sugar production decreased by only 4%, or 80 thousand tons. "This is primarily explained by the increase in sugar beet yield to a historically record industry level of 58 tons/ha, the improvement of its technological characteristics, including the sugar content rate, which was 17.6%, as well as operational improvements at sugar factories.
