Despite severe drought in São Paulo, the institute expects a 18.4% growth in table and canned tomato production for the 2023/2024 winter harvest, with an estimated 17.6% increase in productivity. The government has allocated nearly R$1 billion in emergency funds to the agricultural sector, providing subsidies, credit lines, and technical support to help farmers combat the drought. São Paulo's Department of Agriculture also aims to double the state's irrigated areas in the next four years, currently at 6%, to ensure harvest even in droughts.
