Spain is expected to have a good winter cereal harvest in the 2024-2025 campaign, producing 17.9 million tons of wheat, barley, and oats. However, the drought has impacted several regions, leading to a decrease in harvests. Farmers face low sales prices and high costs, with many expected to sell at a loss. There has been a loss of almost 400 thousand hectares in cereal production compared to the average since 2011. Despite these challenges, better crop management and the use of certified seed and grains have resulted in a great 2024 cereal harvest. The average national yield of winter cereals is 3.58 tons per hectare.
