Colombia has declared a Sanitary Emergency due to the detection of Avian Influenza in backyard domestic birds, aiming to control the disease and protect the national poultry industry. The Institute of Agricultural and Livestock (ICA) has prohibited certain activities related to poultry and manure movement to prevent the spread of the disease. The country is still self-declared free of avian influenza since 2011, and poultry farms certified as disease-free must maintain their biosecurity. Non-compliance will be punished according to Law 1255 of 2008, highlighting the importance of these measures for the nation.
