The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in Indonesia has stated that the European Union (EU) is currently implementing high export tariffs on Indonesian fishery products. However, Indonesia benefits from the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), which provides reduced import duties on its products compared to normal rates. The ministry plans to continue pushing for the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) to eventually achieve a 0% import duty rate and improve the quality of fishery products to strengthen bargaining power with the EU.
