Early harvest warning for hazelnuts

As the hazelnut harvest date approaches, experts have issued an early harvest warning. In Trabzon, the hazelnut harvest dates for 2025 were recently determined according to the Trade Ministry's Eastern Black Sea Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Directorate's circular. As a result of the joint decision taken in the commission, it was announced that hazelnuts can be collected starting from August 3 in the coastal areas up to 250 meters altitude, August 8 in the middle areas up to 500 meters altitude, and from August 14 in the areas with an altitude of 500 meters and above. Speaking on the subject, Cemil Pehlevan, President of the Chamber of Agricultural Engineers Trabzon Branch, warned that as of August 3, suitable conditions for harvesting did not exist in the hazelnut orchards below 250 meters altitude, stating that two-thirds of the hazelnuts had not yet turned red and were difficult to separate from their husks.
