In accordance with the requirements for the intensive breeding of laying hens and humane treatment, as outlined in the European directive from 1999, which allows for national standards typical for the respective EU country, the administration will amend the 2005 ordinance on the minimum requirements for humane treatment in the breeding of birds. Public consultation on these changes is ongoing until December 8. In addition to the general requirements according to the cited directive, some specific values for parameters of the microenvironment in poultry farms, such as temperature, relative humidity, air movement speed in artificial ventilation, lighting intensity, noise level, and others, have been established as national measures. Given the current trends in the intensive breeding of laying hens, inquiries have been made to the member states through the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria in the European Union and the Contact Center of the European Food Safety ...
