Mexico's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos Arámbula, has called for a reduction in the water footprint in food production to promote sustainability. He stressed the importance of responsible management and conservation practices in food production. The Secretary also advocated for partnerships between academia, research centers, producers, authorities, and the private sector to apply science, research, technology, and good agricultural practices. He also highlighted that technology can significantly reduce the amount of water used in food production. A collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the productive sector was also highlighted to maintain the growth of food production and its supply nationally.
