Egg prices in the local market have dropped by 4 pounds, reaching 28 to 29 pounds per dozen, down from 32 pounds at the start of Ramadan, according to Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sayed, head of the domestic wealth division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce. This decline is due to reduced demand and economic challenges faced by citizens. Despite expectations of a price increase due to higher demand for eggs during Ramadan, the market has seen a decrease in prices. Egypt, with a production capacity of one billion and 100 million birds annually and a workforce of 2.5 million in the poultry sector, has seen its egg production increase, leading to a per capita share of about 130 eggs from local farms.
