Egyptian farmer, Talaat al-Sisi, plans to expand his wheat farm from 6 to 13 feddans (approximately 6 to 13 acres) in response to global supply chain disruptions and price hikes due to the Russian-Ukraine conflict. The government is encouraging farmers to produce more crops by providing seeds, fertilizers, and buying their crops at good prices. Egypt, the world's largest wheat importer, has seen a decrease in imported wheat but expects its total yield to reach up to 10 million tonnes this season. The government has increased the procurement price for wheat and banned exports of several food items to provide for its citizens.
