In the 2022/23 season, Egypt became the top supplier of sweet potatoes to Scandinavia, supplying about a third of all imports to Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. They supplied a total of 3,700 tons of sweet potatoes, almost double the previous season, and their shipments to Scandinavia have increased 51 times since 2017/18. This milestone for Egyptian suppliers allowed them to increase their presence in the premium consumer market and reduce dependence on re-exporters from the Netherlands.
