The Chelyabinsk Region is focusing on the modernization of poultry farms, aiming to increase its national ranking in egg and poultry meat production through initiatives like the construction of a breeding facility for Smena-9 chickens, supported by a 3.6 billion ruble investment. Amidst the global threat of avian influenza, the emphasis is on enhancing biosafety measures and considering vaccination to prevent outbreaks. Additionally, the region's poultry enterprises, particularly those with significant environmental impacts, are urged to prepare for obtaining Comprehensive Environmental Permits (EER) by 2019 to avoid increased fees for environmental pollution by 2025. A notable strategy to mitigate this includes reclassifying facilities to lower environmental impact categories, as successfully demonstrated by a South Ural farm.
