Green mung beans, a nutrient-dense legume widely consumed in Eastern countries, is gaining popularity in Brazil due to its adaptation to hot climates and high demand in the international market. Despite being a minor player in the global production of approximately 5.3 million tons annually, primarily dominated by India and other Asian countries, Brazil's domestic production stands at around 40,000 tons, nearly all of which is exported. The Minas Gerais Agricultural Research Corporation (Epamig) is spearheading efforts to develop high-value cultivars like Ouro Verde MG2, MGS Esmeralda, and BRSMG Camaleão to enhance Brazil's competitive position in the global market. To support potential growers, Epamig has produced two informative videos on cultivating green mung beans, further positioning Brazil as a significant player in the industry.
