The European Union's agri-food trade remained strong and surpassed the previous year's figures until August 2020, with a total export value of 119,000 million euros and an import value of 81.6 billion euros. The trade surplus stood at 37.4 billion euros, showing a 2% increase from the same period in 2019. Despite a decrease in wine and spirits exports, there was a notable growth in pork, wheat, and coarse grains exports. China, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Algeria were the top trading partners for EU agri-food exports, while imports from the UK and US experienced a decline. The value of Brazil's agri-food imports grew by 623 million euros, driven by an increase in soybean intake. However, there was a decrease in imports from Ukraine and India. Additionally, the export values of spirits and wine from the EU decreased by 1.3 billion euros and 1.27 billion euros, respectively.
