EU: Agri-food trade remains stable in May

Agricultural and food exports from the EU reached 19.9 billion euros in May, a slight decrease (-1%) compared to April, but still 1% higher than May 2024. Between January and May, cumulative exports reached 99.6 billion euros, an increase of 2.3 billion euros (+2%) compared to last year. The United Kingdom remained the main market between January and May, accounting for 23% of exports (23 billion euros), an increase of 964 million euros (+4%), largely due to higher prices of cocoa products. Exports to the USA also grew, reaching 12.7 billion euros (+700 million euros, +6%), driven by cocoa products, distilled beverages, dairy products, and wine. Switzerland followed with 5.7 billion euros, an increase of 555 million euros (+11%), again driven by cocoa prices.
