Europe establishes a deadline for reducing emissions in the pork and poultry sectors

The European Union has given an ultimatum to the poultry and pork producing industries: they will have 22 months to adapt to new environmental regulations that seek to significantly reduce polluting emissions. The measure, which excludes the bovine sector, will begin to be implemented this week. The new industrial emissions directive came into force this week and from that date, Member States will have a period of 22 months to integrate its provisions into their national legislation. In recent months, agricultural producers have expressed their discontent with demonstrations in several European capitals, using tractors and agricultural machinery to protest against environmental demands and the associated economic costs.
