Russia is projected to see a significant reduction in its rye harvest this year, with expectations to drop to 1.3 million tons from 1.7 million tons in 2023. The decline in rye cultivation is attributed to decreasing interest in the crop among farmers, millers, and bakers, with the harvest numbers fluctuating since 2002. Despite the reduction in production, rye bread remains crucial in Russia, especially in the northwestern regions. Prices for food rye in Russia have also seen an increase, reaching 12,765 rubles per ton as of November 22, reflecting the market's response to the changing harvest projections.
