We aim to reach $100 million in date exports within 4 years in Egypt

Engineer Tamim El-Dawy, Deputy Executive Director of the Export Council for Food Industries, revealed that the council aims to double exports of the dates sector to reach $100 million over the next 4 years. He said in his statements on the sidelines of his participation in the first Egyptian marketing forum for dates, which was held in the city of Kharga in the New Valley, that dates are among the 10 commodities developed by the Council within the framework of its strategy to increase its exports, adding that the Council is currently seeking To increase the base of date exporters, especially that about 5 to 6 companies account for 80% of the sector’s exports. Al-Dawy explained that the Council’s Dates Committee aims to focus during the coming period on expanding exports to the European Union countries, especially “Germany, England, France, and the Netherlands.” He added.
