The Export Council for Food Industries of Egypt is planning to double the exports of the dates sector to $100 million over the next four years. The council is looking to expand the base of date exporters and focus on increasing exports to European Union countries, especially Germany, England, France, and the Netherlands. The council is also planning to increase exports to Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India. The Egyptian dates were distributed at the Anuga exhibition to promote Egyptian products. The council is also coordinating with the Agricultural Research Center to control pests of date palm fruits biologically using the Trichograma parasite.
