In July, Ecuador exported 100,172 tonnes of frozen shrimp valued at $504 million, but the average export price per kilogram dropped 21% to $5.03, the lowest since February 2021. China remained the main market, but volumes and values fell, and export prices to China dropped by 25%. The US, Ecuador's second-largest shrimp market, saw decreases in volumes and values, with the average export price falling by 17%. Other countries, such as Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, and Greece, purchased more volumes of Ecuadorian shrimp in July but paid less as average unit prices also fell. On the other hand, Russia purchased less volume in July, reducing the cost of imports by 52%. Overall, export prices and selling prices in Ecuador have been low, though they have started to rise recently.
