The measure was taken based on the expiration of current regulations and the unification in a single document of the conditions of access to the different meat quotas. It should be noted that it maintains the logic of previous regimes —and of international best practices—, distributing the quotas according to the export performance of the companies, thus incentivizing production, investment, and diversification of destinations. On the other hand, progress was made in eliminating restrictions that generated distortions in the criteria based on the export history and simplifying those that applied to joint projects integrated by groups of producers, with the objective of achieving a more efficient allocation. These modifications are in line with the recent investments in the industry and with the notable growth of Argentine exports, which went from 198 thousand tons to 930 thousand tons in 10 years.
