In the first half of 2020, Russia saw a 12% increase in cheese and curd exports compared to the same period in the previous year, totaling over 13 thousand tons and worth $43 million. The majority of these exports were young cheeses and cottage cheese, with a 11% increase in shipments worth $19 million. Processed cheese exports also rose by 10% to $15 million. Kazakhstan was the largest importer, accounting for half of the total sales volume, with China becoming a top buyer for the first time, importing $368 thousand worth of Russian cheeses, four times the amount from 2019. Overall, 21 countries imported Russian dairy products in the first half of the year.
