In the first half of the 2023-24 season, Turkey has experienced a notable increase in its dried fig exports, with revenues climbing by 21 percent to $216 million, despite a 5 percent drop in quantity to 47,343 tons. This growth in revenue is largely due to a 27 percent hike in the average export price, with Turkey dominating 58 percent of the global market. The United States has emerged as a key market, with exports there nearly doubling over five years, largely thanks to the TURQUALITY project aimed at promoting Turkish food products. Turkey's dried fig exports to North America have increased by 43 percent in the last five years. With a goal to surpass $300 million in exports by the end of the season, Turkey is targeting a volume of 65 thousand tons. The USA, France, and Germany are the top importers, with significant demand also rising from Italy, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, China, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates, making Turkish dried figs $1,200 more valuable per ton.
