Vietnam is the world's leading spice exporter, with a revenue of approximately 1.5 billion USD per year, primarily driven by pepper. Other spices such as ginger, garlic, turmeric, and chili have also seen significant increase in demand. However, the pepper production is expected to decrease by 10-15% due to tree destruction, and the industry faces challenges like quality control and chemical residues. The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association has requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to develop solutions to meet market demands and address the issues of chemical residues in various spice crops.
