In the first quarter of 2024, Russia achieved a record high in edible vegetable oil exports to China, reaching 578.3 thousand tons, an 18.2% increase from the previous year, making it the largest supplier of such products to China, accounting for 58.4% of China's imports. Besides China, Russia also increased its vegetable oil exports to India, Turkey, Egypt, and Algeria, leading to a 20% increase in total vegetable oil shipments globally in the first quarter of 2024. The Oil and Fat Union predicts that the volume of exports will exceed 3.8 million tons by the end of the first half of the year due to competitive pricing, especially for sunflower oil. Domestic oil factories in Russia may also see an increase in capacity by the end of the year.
