The agricultural area in Tajikistan's Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) has expanded by 87 hectares, covering a total of 10,543 hectares. The region, known for its challenging terrain, has dedicated a significant portion of this land to cereal cultivation, with vegetables and fodder crops also finding space. The region's production has seen a 3.5% increase over the previous year, reaching 138.1 million somoni ($1.2 million) from the cultivation of various crops and products, including apples, pears, berries, and honey. Despite the operational of 77 greenhouses and 29 vegetable stores, a portion of the produce is still lost due to insufficient storage facilities. The formation of production cooperatives, as suggested by farmers and experts, is seen as a strategy to enhance agricultural efficiency.
