Tomato prices in the market have dropped by over 50%, now below 15 pounds per kilo, due to the harvest of the winter crop covering more than 200 thousand acres. This is coupled with improved climate conditions increasing production and low export rates. The experts anticipate further price drops in the coming months, especially in Upper Egypt, advising consumers to buy and store tomatoes in December for the lowest prices. This situation poses a risk of significant losses for farmers if the price per kilo falls below 5 pounds.
