Vietnam's marine aquaculture industry saw production reach 700 thousand tons in 2021, with molluscs and seaweed being the dominant products. However, the industry faces several challenges such as lack of detailed planning, weak science and technology, and environmental management issues. To address these challenges, the industry is looking towards solutions in seed production technology, farming, feed, mechanization, and multidisciplinary development. The goal is to develop the industry into a large-scale, industrial, efficient, sustainable, and eco-environmental commodity production industry, with a targeted marine farming area of 280,000 hectares and production of 850,000 tons by 2025.
