A recent report by the Fisheries Authority of Egypt highlights a significant increase in the country's fish production, reaching 1.92 million tons, an improvement of 100 thousand tons from the previous year. This growth is primarily due to the adoption of intensive and semi-intensive fish farming techniques in concrete ponds and the development of various aquaculture projects, including the production of 'Femme' shrimp and 'crawfish' to boost exports and local supply. The authority is working on converting traditional farming methods to more efficient practices and expanding integrated farming in desert reclamation areas. With a focus on water conservation and recycling, Egypt aims to increase its fish production to 3 million tons by 2030, solidifying its position as a leading tilapia cultivator in the world.
