The Hungarian National Fishing Association (MOHOSZ) is advocating for the fishing industry to be recognized as a crucial part of Hungarian agriculture. MOHOSZ President, Lajos Szűcs, argues that the industry has been overlooked in agricultural subsidies, largely due to Hungary's lack of maritime status. He is pushing for the fisheries operational program to be integrated with that of agriculture. Talks are underway with the Ministry of Agriculture and other professional bodies to secure necessary resources for the fishing industry. A government proposal, based on the National Fishing Tourism Strategy, is being prepared by the state secretariat, with funding expected to be secured in the first half of this year.
