The rising prices of exported pepper are significantly boosting the export value of Vietnamese pepper while the export volume decreases. In the first seven months of the year, Vietnam exported nearly 145 thousand tons of pepper, valued at 990 million USD, a 12% decrease in volume but a 30% increase in value compared to the same period in 2024. The average export price of pepper in the past seven months reached 6,841 USD/ton, a 47% increase compared to the same period. There are many reasons for the decrease in the volume of pepper exports, including reduced production. According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the 2025 pepper harvest in Vietnam has officially ended with an estimated production of 180 thousand tons, a decrease of 10 thousand tons compared to 2024. This decrease is largely due to the lack of expansion in the area planted with pepper in the recent crop season.
