Forecast on EU agricultural and food market in 2025

The macroeconomic environment and food prices in general suggest that there may be improvements in demand for agri-food products in most sectors. However, the outlook remains subject to a degree of uncertainty, linked to weather events, geopolitical conflicts and animal and plant diseases. According to the European Commission Report, the short-term forecast for the EU agri-food market is showing signs of stabilisation. Food inflation has eased and food prices have remained relatively stable in recent months for most products, although they are on average 32% higher than in 2020. Increased demand for agri-food products is likely to be supported by the expected growth in EU GDP and stable moderate inflation. The EU fertiliser market is also stabilising, with imports and exports returning to normal and domestic production showing signs of recovery.
