According to a report by the Paraguayan newspaper "National Gazette" on February 2, the "Digital Market for Family Farming" will enable thousands of small producers to sell food directly to consumers, businesses, restaurants, and companies, thereby reducing intermediaries and increasing their income. Currently, the program can be accessed via the link https://mercadoaf.mag.gov.py/, and it will subsequently be available on the Google Play Store. The platform will serve as a digital product catalog, allowing registered producers to publish product information, prices, varieties, stock levels, and geographic locations, facilitating direct connections with buyers.
The "Digital Market for Family Farming" will also implement traceability, transaction reporting, and technical tracking functions, enhancing the trust and transparency of business processes. The platform aims to address long-standing issues in the industry: the reliance on intermediaries has increased supply chain costs and compressed the profit margins of producers.
At the launch of the "Digital Market for Family Farming," Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Carlos Giménez emphasized, "Today, producers can finally connect directly with end consumers, supplying products to the market. We are well aware that selling is not easy, and this tool is of great significance."
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock stated that the platform will cover the entire country, including 21 agricultural development centers (CDA) and 184 local agencies, initially serving approximately 60,000 rural producers who can receive technical support for registration locally.
Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock recently released the year-end agricultural fair schedule "End of Year: Rural Flavor Festival 2025" (Ary Paha: Fiestas con Sabor a Campo 2025), which is expected to host over 1,000 fair events. The event aims to bring fresh produce from family farms directly to consumers at affordable prices and to inject vitality into the rural economy during the peak demand season of Christmas.
The event will take place in multiple provinces in December, covering 184 districts under the jurisdiction of the Agricultural Promotion Bureau (Deag) and 20 districts under the jurisdiction of the Commercial Promotion Bureau.
