From July 1, the price of bottled drinks in Greece will increase by 20%

From July 1, consumers in Greece will face a sharp rise in the prices of bottled products. According to a decree of the Ministry of Development, 500 ml of bottled water will cost 0.60 euros, compared to 0.50 today. A price increase of up to 20% is foreseen for water, soft drinks, juices and beer. Other beverages sold in aluminum, glass and plastic containers are also included in this regulation. The reason for these changes is the introduction of the Duty Redundancy Scheme (DRS) in Greece, which has led to higher food prices due to higher prices for plastic, aluminum and glass bottles. Of course, in the same official bulletin that announced the upcoming price increase, it is written that the increase will be compensated with a voucher for returning plastic containers to the store.
