The Minas Gerais State Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (SEAPA) is monitoring the prices of main products at the CeasaMinas warehouse in Contagem to assess the food supply scenario in the region, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The department is analyzing the average prices charged at the Ceasa-MG unit in Greater Belo Horizonte on a weekly basis, looking at variations in prices of fruits such as pineapple, banana, and orange due to climate, supply, demand, and production costs. The prices of some fruits like papaya, watermelon, apple, orange, and lemon have increased due to reduced supply, increased demand, and adverse weather conditions, while banana and mango prices have dropped due to increased supply and reduced demand.
