The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has held a workshop to introduce the FISH4ACP Project to oyster harvesters and other stakeholders in the Gambia. The five-year project, led by the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), aims to address challenges such as low economic performance, limited market access, and poor social and environmental sustainability in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors. The project will be implemented across 12 African countries, with the goal of enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of fisheries and aquaculture value chains while ensuring economic, environmental, and social sustainability.
