(Chuncheon=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Jae-hyun = The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Health and Environment Research Institute announced on the 10th that all products were confirmed to meet standards in safety tests for harmful substances and food poisoning bacteria in New Year's foods. This safety test was conducted from January 21 to February 2 on a total of 77 items including processed foods, food for making jesu (seasonal foods), and agricultural, forestry, and fishery products. The inspection was carried out on New Year's foods collected during a joint inspection process targeting food manufacturing, distribution, and sales companies in the province. The main inspection items are acidity, unauthorized tar colorants, preservatives, heavy metals, residual pesticides, residual veterinary drugs, hygiene indicator bacteria, and food poisoning bacteria. Health and Environment Research Institute Director Shin In-cheol said, "In preparation for the Lunar New Year, we are conducting safety tests on foods that are heavily consumed during the holiday so that residents can enjoy food with their families without worry," and "Through preemptive inspections of trending components in distributed foods and the disclosure of the results, we will ensure that residents can consume food without worry."
