Germany's Federal Statistical Office reports a slight increase in meat production in the first half of 2024, with a 1.3% rise in the number of slaughtered animals compared to the same period in the previous year. The total number of slaughtered animals was 24 million, including pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, and horses, as well as 344.3 million chickens, turkeys, and ducks. Pork production saw a slight increase, with a 0.4% rise in the number of pigs slaughtered, and beef production increased by 2.5%. Poultry meat production also increased by 1.3%. Pork continued to have the largest share in meat production, accounting for 62.0% of the total meat produced.
