Peru has seen a rise in the production of fattening turkey and pork with increases of 19.4% and 4.5% respectively, leading to a 0.9% growth in the livestock sector from January to August of this year. This growth is largely due to higher production in Lima, Ica, and Arequipa, and is attributed to increased consumption. Peru consumes more turkey than any other South American country. However, concerns have been raised about the misuse of funds withdrawn from private pension funds, with no awareness campaigns conducted by the SBS, as criticized by the Qispi Association.
