Global Cashew Nut Production Declines, African Processing Surges, Vietnam's Inventory Drops to Historic Low

Global Production Declines by 1.5% In the 2025/26 crop season, North Hemisphere cashew production is expected to decrease by 1.3% compared to the previous season, while South Hemisphere production is projected to grow by 1.6%, resulting in a global total production decline of 1.5%, from 5.2886 million tons to 5.21 million tons. Côte d'Ivoire is expected to maintain its position as the largest producer with a 4% production increase. Over the past nine years, its production has nearly doubled, rising from 650,000 tons in 2016 to an estimated 1.25 million tons this year. The government has strongly promoted growth through improving rural infrastructure, road networks, farmer training programs, and cooperative investments, expanding cultivation areas from the north to the central region. To support local processors, the country implemented temporary cashew export restrictions at the beginning of this season.
