Czarnikow, a UK-based sugar and ethanol company, has revised its forecast for the global sugar surplus in the 2024/25 season, increasing it slightly from 4.5 million metric tons to 4.7 million metric tons. This revision is attributed to an improved production outlook in Colombia, with the company now projecting supply for the 2024/25 season to reach 184.7 million tons, up 0.4 million from the previous forecast. Despite this, global consumption for the same season is expected to grow slightly to 180.0 million tons, up 0.3 million from the previous forecast.
