[Korean Farmers' Newspaper, Reporter Kim Kyung-wook] After more than 20 years of legislative discussion, the 'Complete GMO Labeling Act' has crossed the threshold of the National Assembly. As the cultivation area of soybeans expands and the expansion of the processing industry emerges as an immediate task in the domestic soybean industry, expectations are growing, and there are also voices from civil society, which has consistently called for the Complete GMO Labeling Act, demanding that a specific roadmap for implementation be promptly established. On the 2nd, the National Assembly held a plenary session and passed the revision bills for the 'Food Hygiene Act' and the 'Act on Health Functional Foods'. The revision bills include genetically modified foods (GMOs) that do not contain genetically modified DNA or proteins in the manufacturing and processing process.
