Gochang-gun in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, has seen a rise in the number of farmers subscribing to agricultural disaster insurance, with 1,000 more households subscribing in the last year, bringing the total to 9,278. This insurance is designed to mitigate the management anxiety of farmers due to weather-related disasters and support stable production. The county has reduced the farmer's burden of the insurance from 20% to 10% this year and plans to further encourage subscription by providing more information and applying through agricultural cooperatives. The insurance covers a variety of crops and has been available since 2001.
