This week is Thanksgiving in the US and the demand for lemons is very good, as are the prices. "Lemons are a regular ingredient in many dishes and cocktails during the holidays," says Ronnie Cohen of the American Vision Global Group. This time of year the company sources lemons from Mexico. “After a few years of poor market conditions due to high input costs and drought, the situation gradually became challenging. Some growers stopped investing in their orchards and as a result, sizes were small during the first part of the Mexican season,” says Cohen. Mexico is now halfway through its season and the lemons are already showing better calibres. All in all, it is a good period for sales of Mexican lemons in the US. “Chile has crop problems.
