The Goiás government is closely monitoring the suspension of Brazilian meat imports by China following the discovery of a mad cow case in Pará. The case was found in a single nine-year-old animal and was due to natural causes, ruling out contamination. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock is taking necessary measures to resolve the export impasse to China and plans to hold a virtual meeting with the Chinese government to provide official information and restore beef shipments. The government is also taking preventive measures to prevent Avian Influenza in the state and will no longer require herd vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease this year.
