REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The government has affirmed that it will impose strict sanctions, including the revocation of business licenses, on rice distributors, traders, and retailers who do not comply with the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). The implementation of these sanctions is expected to control rice prices. “We have agreed to call on rice distributors, traders, and retailers to adhere to the MRP regulation. This call is valid for two weeks. If it is not heeded, we will revoke their licenses,” said Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (20/10). The warning was issued following a coordination meeting across ministries and agencies attended by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Bulog CEO Ahmad Rizal.
