Grain exports from December 1 to December 20 amounted to 3.38 million tons, which is 14% more than in the same period last year, according to monitoring by the Russian Grain Union (RGU). Turkey became the main importer during this period, with 556,000 tons of wheat imported, which is three times more than in 2024. According to Elena Tyurina, director of the analytical department of the RGU, whose words are quoted by "Interfax," the reason for this growth is the lifting of the ban on wheat imports and the resulting increase in purchases of Russian grain. She also added that Egypt, which lost its leadership position, increased its purchases by 7.9% to 481,000 tons. The sharp increase in shipments in the second decade of December contributed to the growth of exports for the entire month—in December, wheat sales to foreign markets more than doubled compared to the same period in 2024.
