The annual Responsible Seafood Summit was held in Canada, where Gorjan Nikolik, chief seafood analyst at Rabobank, predicted that global farmed Atlantic salmon production will start growing again in 2024 after two years of stability. Norwegian salmon production is expected to increase by 0.5% this year and by 3.7% in 2024, reaching a total of 1.58 million tons. However, Chile's salmon production is projected to have slower growth, with a 2% increase in 2024 and a potential decrease by 1.8% in 2025, not surpassing the levels of 2020.
